Preparing the Nest
HELLO! It is I, back from the depths of hell that are cardboard Amazon packages.
With the level of anxiousness that I feel, you would think that I am a new mom prepping for the day I’ll be bringing my newborn home from the hospital. I suppose I could contribute this extreme level of nesting to the fact that this will be the first pet that is 100% mine. I’ve always shared the responsibility with a past partner, or my family. This time it’s just me, and it feels so special.
It’s gratifying that I don’t have to ask a co-owner their opinions on whether or not they like the items I’m getting. I can just live as if I’m Ariana Grande, “I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it”. No compromising on metal food bowls, when I can get overpriced, but incredibly beautiful ceramics. It’s invigorating.
I am obsessed with this automatic feeder. Originally I had the Wopet automatic feeder since it was app controlled…but it never connected to Wifi since it solely relies on 2g. Veken for the win!
Waiting on my various online purchases to finally arrive to the house was…torturous. The number of days compulsively checking tracking numbers instantly became second nature to me (more so than usual). Now that everything has arrived, setting up her things in their special places makes everything seem even more real.
I wanted to splurge on the Modkat Top Entry litter box, but didn’t want to shell out $90 for one. This one looks just as nice I think!
Arwyn isn’t even here yet and already has a million toys.
But alas, now that I’m finished with setting up her new home, I am left with nothing else to do but be tormented with the task of having patience. I feel like a mixture of a kid awaiting Christmas and Veruca Salt. I WANT TO PLAY WITH MY KITTEN NOW!
I know I eventually want to get more scratchers for Arwyn, but this seemed like the best one to start off with. Hopefully it’ll be perfect for hunting and hiding.

Why does time go by so slow when you want it to go so fast?
